Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does
my membership cover?
All emergency transfers to local facilities. After your primary
and secondary insurances are billed, any unpaid balance is
covered in full. This leaves our members with no out of pocket
expense.
2. What
does it cost?
Membership rates for individuals are: $20.00, family of 3
or more: $35.00, seniors (65 yrs +): $15.00 and senior household
(both 65 yrs +): $25.00..
3. When
I dial 911, who will respond?
American Patient Transport Systems (APTS). We are the primary
ambulance provider to the City of Hazleton and a large portion
of Hazle Township including Cranberry, Ebervale, Harleigh,
Hollywood, Lattimer and Pardeesville.
4. Should I also become a member of the Hazleton Community
Ambulance?
If you live in the City of Hazleton or the areas listed above,
there is NO benefit to you joining their membership. APTS
WILL NOT honor any memberships to the Hazleton Community
Ambulance when we respond to your 911 emergency in the above
referenced areas.
5. I
live in an area that another ambulance
covers (McAdoo, Freeland, Jeansville, etc.).
Should I also become a member of your company?
NO. Your membership with the local primary ambulance provider
will cover you in the event that we cover a call for them
or provide assistance to them in their primary coverage area.
This has been the practice of APTS and all other ambulance
services for years. APTS will continue to provide this courtesy
to all area primary responders.
6. Is
someone always available in an emergency?
YES. APTS has a fleet of seven ambulance and seven non-emergency
vans to service the community, staffed by Paramedics, Emergency
Medical Technicians (EMT) and drivers. We have multiple vehicles
staffed 24 hours a day to service our residents. APTS is
licensed by the Department of Health to provide Advanced
Life Support (Paramedics) and Basic Life Support services.
